Web Browser Recommendations for Using eBay

eBay is designed to work with most modern Web browsers. For best results, we recommend that you always use the current version of eBay-supported browsers. In addition to improving your experience on eBay, upgrading your browser displays web pages faster and provides the latest security updates.

Getting the best web browsing experience on eBay

To ensure you get the best web browsing results on eBay:

  • Use eBay's recommended web browsers. eBay supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher, or Apple Safari.2 or higher. These browsers are widely used, and their manufacturers provide continual security updates. Netscape Navigator is no longer supported by eBay. eBay is currently not supporting advanced functionality on the Opera browser.

  • Make sure JavaScript is enabled while using eBay. This allows interactive features to work properly. For more information on enabling JavaScript, see your browser’s Help.

  • Make sure cookies are enabled. “Cookies” are small files that eBay and other seb sites store on your computer, allowing those sites to “remember” your preferences and require you to enter your password less frequently. They also allow you to use certain features in My eBay, including leaving Feedback.

  • If you use a pop-up blocker, you may want to temporarily allow pop-ups while on eBay. This ensures all information is displayed and all eBay interactive features, such as eBay’s Live Help, are working properly.

Downloading the latest version of eBay's recommended web browsers

To provide you the best buying and selling experience, eBay uses the improved technology only available in the latest versions of web browsers. If you continue to use older browsers, you may notice that some functions and features you use on eBay will stop working as changes are made to the eBay site.

AOL service users

eBay also supports America Online (AOL) and most other online services that use a customised version of an eBay-supported browser on the Internet. However, early versions of these services might not perform well on eBay. Check your online service for information on how to download the latest version of their browser.

Note: The most current version of AOL for Macintosh OSX is not fully supported by eBay since it is based on older browser technology.

Additional questions

For guidance on your particular operating system, hardware, and Internet access, ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or visit your web browser's online Help or Customer Support area.
